Amine-functionalized ZSM-5-supported gold nanoparticles as a highly efficient catalyst for the reduction of p-Nitrophenol

Denanti Erika et al.

Summary: In this study, hybrid Au nanomaterial was used as a heterogeneous catalyst to transform the highly toxic p-nitrophenol (PNP) into a less harmful and useful compound, p-aminophenol (PAP). The results showed that using APTES as a support for Au nanoparticles (Au/APTES-ZSM-5) resulted in a more stable catalyst with a higher reaction rate compared to Au/ZSM-5. This research has important implications for addressing pollution in aquatic environments.

Synthesis and Characterization of Ag/Al2O3 Catalysts for the Hydrogenation of 1-Octyne and the Preferential Hydrogenation of 1-Octyne vs 1-Octene

Revana Chanerika et al.

Summary: In this study, catalysts with different silver loadings supported on alumina were prepared and characterized. It was found that the catalysts with different silver loadings had different sizes of metal nanoparticles. In the competitive hydrogenation reaction, nanoparticles with sizes of 10-15 nm showed high conversion and stable operation. The performance of the catalysts was influenced by both the metal and support, with the support playing an important role in the overall acidity of the catalysts.

New insights into the capture performance and mechanism of hazardous metals Cr3+ and Cd2+ onto an effective layered double hydroxide based material

Sidi Zhu et al.

Summary: The phosphonate functionalized layered double hydroxide proved to be an excellent adsorbent for capturing toxicant metal ions, with a maximum adsorption capacity dominated by chemisorption and monolayer interaction. In addition, the spent adsorbent showed satisfactory reusability after multiple cycles, and Forcite simulation suggested electrostatic interaction as a critical mechanism for modifiers and the surface sites of the interlayer.
