Current-Use Pesticides in the River Waters of Eastern China: Occurrence and Human Health Risk Assessment

Chong Chen et al.

Summary: The study revealed that CUP concentrations were relatively low in the center regions of Shanghai, mainly concentrated in the inner city and suburban areas, with significant differences in agricultural areas. Among different population groups, adults had the highest exposure doses, and females had the greatest risk of dermal contact.

Agrochemicals in freshwater systems and their potential as endocrine disrupting chemicals: A South African context

Ilze Horak et al.

Summary: South Africa is the largest agrochemical user in sub-Saharan Africa, with a large number of registered pesticide products. Legacy and current-use pesticides are still detected in watercourses and wildlife, potentially leading to endocrine disruption effects. There is a need for more comprehensive studies on the levels of agricultural pesticides present and associated endocrine disrupting effects.

Occurrence of Pesticides Associated with an Agricultural Drainage System in a Mediterranean Environment

Ignacio Melendez-Pastor et al.

Summary: This article examines surface water pollution caused by pesticides in agricultural drainage waters, focusing on the analysis of DDT, DDE, and glyphosate. The study found high concentrations of DDT-DDE clusters near wetlands in natural parks, with pesticides flowing from soil and groundwater pools. Glyphosate concentrations were below WHO guidelines and more related to current agricultural uses in the southern sector of the study area.
