The present study looks into the influence of variable thermal conditions for the heat transfer analysis of a magnetohydrodynamic Maxwell fluid in a porous medium. The flow is caused due to an unsteady bidirectional stretching sheet. Heat transfer is analyzed for two different cases of heat transfer namely the constant temperature and constant heat flux. Similarity transformations are invoked to transform governing partial differential equations into ordinary differential equations. Homotopy analysis method is implemented for obtaining the convergent series solutions of the transformed equations. The quantities of interest like fluid velocity, temperature, skin friction and Nusselt number are analyzed for the variations of the pertinent parameters of interest. Comparison of the obtained solutions with the existing results in special case is found in excellent agreement.
