Time evolution of nonadditive entropies: The logistic map

Constantino Tsallis et al.

Summary: Due to the second principle of thermodynamics, the time dependence of entropy for all kinds of systems under all kinds of physical circumstances always thrives interest. However, for the logistic map with only one degree of freedom and dissipative nature, it exhibits a peculiar time evolution of its natural entropy, showing that the stationary-state entropy value is achieved from above instead of below. These results raise the question of whether the usual requirements for the second principle validity might be necessary but not sufficient.

Brief Review on the Connection between the Micro-Canonical Ensemble and the Sq-Canonical Probability Distribution

Angel R. Plastino et al.

Summary: Non-standard thermostatistical formalisms derived from generalizations of the Boltzmann-Gibbs entropy, particularly the S-q non-additive entropies, have attracted significant attention and achieved successful applications in various fields. The S-q-based thermostatistics exhibits peculiar features and a close connection between S-q-canonical distributions and micro-canonical ensemble, which has been extensively explored by researchers. In this study, we provide a brief review on micro-canonical scenarios leading to S-q-canonical distributions, including historical works where the S-q-canonical distributions were unidentified and recent works explicitly investigating the Sq-micro-canonical connection.

Tunnelling measured in a very slow ion-molecule reaction

Robert Wild et al.

Summary: Quantum tunnelling reactions are challenging to calculate and difficult to identify experimentally. However, in this study, accurate calculations and high-sensitivity measurements were conducted to determine the rate constant of a gas-phase proton-transfer tunnelling reaction. The measured value agrees with quantum tunnelling calculations, providing a benchmark for molecular theory and advancing the understanding of collision processes.

Entropy Optimization, Generalized Logarithms, and Duality Relations

Angel R. Plastino et al.

Summary: Several generalizations or extensions of the Boltzmann-Gibbs thermostatistics, based on non-standard entropies, have been the focus of considerable research activity in recent years. The power-law, non-additive entropies Sq, which have shown the largest number of successful applications, are worthy of close scrutiny. This paper analyzes one specific feature of the S-q thermostatistics regarding the link between the q-logarithm function and the q-exponential function.

Tsallis cosmology and its applications in dark matter physics with focus on IceCube high-energy neutrino data

P. Jizba et al.

Summary: This paper utilizes a recent proposal by C. Tsallis to formulate the first law of thermodynamics for gravitating systems using non-additive entropy. The study focuses on an integrating factor for the heat one-form and shows that it differs from conventional thermodynamics as it can be factorized into thermal and entropic parts. The ensuing laws of thermodynamics lead to Tsallis cosmology, which is then applied to address the observed discrepancy between the Dark Matter relic abundance and IceCube data on high-energy neutrinos.

Deformed Mathematical Objects Stemming from the q-Logarithm Function

Ernesto P. Borges et al.

Summary: Generalized numbers, arithmetic operators, and derivative operators are classified into four categories based on symmetry features, using the pair of inverse functions of q-logarithm and q-exponential as the building elements. Each category exhibits commutativity, associativity, and distributivity, as well as a pair of linear/nonlinear derivatives. Additionally, two entropic functionals, including the nonadditive Tsallis entropy, are derived from the formalism.
