Study of heat transfer and the nanofluid flow inside a rectangular enclosure with five rectangular baffles in the middle affected by a magnetic field

Saeed Alqaed et al.

Summary: This article simulates the free and forced convection in a two-dimensional rectangular enclosure. The study investigates the impact of parameters such as Richardson number (Ri) and Hartmann number (Ha) on the average Nusselt number (NUA). Numerical simulations using the Lattice Boltzmann method (LBM) and FORTRAN software are conducted. The results show that the increase in Ha enhances Nu at Ri=0.1, while for other Ri values, increasing Ha reduces NUA. The maximum NUA is achieved at Ha=40 and Ri=0.1, reaching 6.89. The orientation of the enclosure also affects NUA, with horizontal enclosure having the highest Nu (3.10) and vertical enclosure having the lowest NUA.

Economic and thermo-hydraulic features of multiphase nanofluids in a heat exchanger equipped with novel turbulators: A numerical study

Jawed Mustafa et al.

Summary: This research study assessed the thermo-hydraulic and economic analysis of three channel types, and found that using channels with turbulators improved the Thermo-Hydraulic Performance Evaluation Criterion (THPEC). The channel with innovative turbulators showed the highest improvement of 23% compared to a smooth channel and 10% compared to a conventional turbulator channel. The use of a heat exchanger with novel turbulators reduced the required material by almost 11% while maintaining the same energy efficiency and outlet temperature.
