Study of Asphaltene Deposition in the Presence of a Hydrophobic Deep Eutectic Solvent Using XDLVO Theory

A. Sanati et al.

Summary: This study investigates the performance of an ionic liquid-based hydrophobic deep eutectic solvent (HDES) as an asphaltene deposition inhibitor using the extended DLVO theory and surface energy concepts. It was found that AB interactions play a crucial role in inhibiting asphaltene deposition, and the presence of HDES can repel asphaltene from the dolomite surface. Additionally, HDES can prevent asphaltene particles from aggregating and depositing onto the surface by altering cohesion/adhesion forces.

Inhibition of asphaltene precipitation using hydrophobic deep eutectic solvents and ionic liquid

A. Sanati et al.

Summary: This study investigates the potential application of three hydrophobic deep eutectic solvents in inhibiting asphaltene precipitation in oil reservoirs. Results show that glycerol-based HDES (HDES 3) and TTPBP are effective in inhibiting asphaltene precipitation, comparable to DBSA.
