Ce-modified SrFeO3-δ for ethane oxidative dehydrogenation coupled with CO2 splitting via a chemical looping scheme

Xin Tian et al.

Summary: Ce-modified SrFeO3 oxygen carriers exhibit high activity and selectivity in oxidative dehydrogenation of ethane, attributed to the decreased Fe2+/(Fe3++Fe4+) ratio and increased active oxygen species on the near-surface. DFT calculations demonstrate that Ce promotion leads to a lower energy barrier for surface oxygen vacancy formation in 0.2Ce/SrFeO3. The superior ethylene selectivity achieved by CO2-regenerated samples is mainly due to the higher resistance of lattice oxygen diffusion from bulk to surface.
