Pathways for municipalities to achieve carbon emission peak and carbon neutrality: A study based on the LEAP model

Liya Cai et al.

Summary: This study explores pathways for achieving carbon emission peak and carbon neutrality, using the municipality of Bengbu as a case. It develops a low emission framework based on the Low Emissions Analysis Platform model, considering the local economy, population, renewable resources, as well as the transport and energy sectors. The results show that the industrial sector is the largest energy consumer and increasing the electrification rate and phasing out coal generation are crucial for CO2 emission reduction.

The relevance and comparability of corporate financial reporting regarding renewable energy production in Europe

Voicu D. Dragomir et al.

Summary: Renewable energy sources are crucial in addressing the energy crisis in Europe. However, there are challenges in recognizing and measuring them from a financial perspective. Our investigation focused on the financial disclosures related to renewable energy deployment in the corporate reports of major European energy producers for the year 2020. The study revealed relatively low comparability in the financial information regarding renewable energy. Inconsistent specifications of reportable segments and unclear formulations regarding renewable energy investments hinder the comparability of financial statements. Recommendations were provided to improve financial reporting in relation to renewable energy business activities, potentially enhancing industry transparency and supporting sustainable energy transition.
