Effect of the carbon emissions trading policy on the co-benefits of carbon emissions reduction and air pollution control

Zhaoyingzi Dong et al.

Summary: This study examines the impact of China's carbon emissions trading policy on carbon emissions and air quality, using the difference-in-differences method. The results show that the policy significantly affects the co-benefits of carbon emissions reduction and air quality improvement, and has indirect effects through changing innovation ability and location choice of industries. It also reveals the policy's effectiveness in Central China and supports the pollution haven hypothesis by increasing carbon emissions in neighboring cities.

Ecosystem services assessment based on land use simulation: A case study in the Heihe River Basin, China

Jing Zhao et al.

Summary: This study used the InVEST and FLUS models to examine the impacts of land use and land cover changes on key ecosystem services in the Heihe River Basin. The results showed that future changes in carbon storage and water yield may vary, while soil conservation is expected to decrease significantly. This research provides valuable insights for sustainable ecological environment zoning management.

Renewable energy investment and carbon emissions under cap-and-trade mechanisms

Wei Chen et al.

Summary: This study investigates the impacts of cap-and-trade mechanisms on a utility firm's decisions in renewable energy investment, showing that different mechanisms can lead to varying levels of investment and carbon emissions. Properly setting carbon quotas by the government can promote emission reduction and maintain electricity demand balance.

Evaluating the employment effect of China's carbon emission trading policy: Based on the perspective of spatial spillover

Da-Jin Yu et al.

Summary: This paper examines the employment effect of China's carbon emission trading policy on micro enterprises while considering spatial spillover effects. The results show a positive spillover effect on neighboring provinces and an overall employment effect of about 11.5%. The impact of carbon emission trading policies on employment is gradually increasing, with varying effects in different pilot areas in China.

The impact of urban scale on carbon metabolism - a case study of Hangzhou, China

Yan Li et al.

Summary: This study established an urban carbon metabolism analogy model and found that carbon metabolism in urban traffic land was not similar to biological metabolism, while other urban construction lands showed analogy. The research also indicated that urban carbon metabolism was generally similar to biological metabolism, and there was a negative correlation between population size and carbon emission rate.

Provincial allocation of renewable portfolio standard in China based on efficiency and fairness principles

Jie Xu et al.

Summary: This study establishes two quota allocation models for renewable energy targets, LC-RPS and IN-RPS, and compares them with the GM-RPS and the NO-RPS scenarios. Results show that LC-RPS has lower power generation cost but slightly lower fairness compared to the other three scenarios, still demonstrating relative fairness in power generation cost.
