Anisotropic characteristics of acoustic emission and the corresponding multifractal spectrum during progressive failure of shale under cyclic loading

Yachen Xie et al.

Summary: The anisotropic characteristics of shale failure mechanism under cyclic loading were investigated using AE monitoring tests. Results showed that the cumulative number of AE events and AE energy tend to increase during the failure process, except for specimens with bedding inclination angles of 0 degrees and 45 degrees. The study also revealed that the bedding plane not only affects the fracture mechanism of shale but also impacts the magnitude of fracture energy release rate.

Influence of airflow movement on methane migration in coal mine goafs with spontaneous coal combustion

Lin Li et al.

Summary: Spontaneous coal combustion in coal mines can lead to methane accumulation and explosions. Ventilation dilution is an empirical engineering measure proposed to prevent disasters, and it can weaken methane accumulation but an increase in coal combustion temperature may cause methane accumulation again. The competitive relationship between coal combustion-induced chimney effect and air leakage provides new insights for studying methane migration in disaster formation and prevention mechanisms.

Permeability and inertial resistance coefficient correction model of broken rocks in coal mine goaf

Qian Liu et al.

Summary: Goafs are made up of large, irregularly shaped broken rocks, requiring modifications to the Ergun equation for calculating permeability and inertial resistance coefficients. Coefficients A and B have coupling relationships with particle size and porosity, showing quadratic polynomial relationships with porosity and different functional relationships with particle size.
