Environmentally Oriented Analysis of Benefits and Expenditures in the Life Cycle of a Wind Power Plant

Lukasz Sobaszek et al.

Summary: The study aims to extend and supplement previous research on technical objects in the renewable energy sector by analyzing the environmental impact of different stages of a wind power plant's life cycle. Using the Impact 2002+ modeling, the study assessed the ecological effects of a 2 MW Vestas V90/105 m wind farm and found that the production stage had the highest level of harmful effect. However, the use of recycling reduced the negative impacts of the life cycle by 6.5%, particularly in the depletion of fossil resources and human health.

Life Cycle Assessment of an Integrated PV-ACAES System

Daniele Cocco et al.

Summary: The aim of this paper is to evaluate the overall life cycle environmental impact of an adiabatic compressed air energy storage (ACAES) system. The study compares the impacts of a photovoltaic (PV) power plant and an integrated PV-ACAES system with a reference scenario in which the end user demand is met entirely by the grid. The best configuration found is a 30 MW PV plant integrated with an ACAES section using an underground cavern for air storage, which achieves improvements in energy self-consumption and reduces the environmental impact by 80-91% depending on the impact category in comparison to the reference scenario.

Design, Greenhouse Emissions, and Environmental Payback of a Photovoltaic Solar Energy System

Herwin Saito Schultz et al.

Summary: This study aims to design and evaluate a 16.4 MW photovoltaic solar system in the Brazilian Northeast, focusing on the associated greenhouse gas emissions and environmental payback. The results show that the system can generate a significant amount of electricity over 25 years, with relatively low emission factor. Photovoltaic panels are identified as the main contributors to greenhouse gas emissions. Therefore, photovoltaic energy systems play a crucial role in emissions reduction efforts.

Multi-Criteria Method for the Selection of Renewable Energy Sources in the Polish Industrial Sector

Robert Ulewicz et al.

Summary: It is essential to assess the advantages and disadvantages of renewable energy sources for industrial use in order to make rational decisions. There is a lack of defined criteria in the literature for selecting renewable energy for industries. Supporting industrial development based on renewable energy is necessary to reduce negative environmental impacts.

Economy and energy analysis in the operation of renewable energy installations - a case study

Adam Idzikowski et al.

Summary: This paper presents an economic, ecological and energy analysis of a home photovoltaic grid installation, indicating the increasing interest in green energy in Polish society but also the lack of awareness of the benefits of photovoltaic installations. By analyzing a specific home photovoltaic installation, the study shows that the installation will have a payback period of over 9 years and will reduce 70 tons of carbon dioxide emissions.
