New insights on the electrochemical mechanism of epinephrine on glassy carbon electrode

Raphael P. Bacil et al.

Summary: The classic epinephrine's ECE mechanism is revisited and found to be a multi-step irreversible electron transfer with a very fast intramolecular cyclization. It involves an EECEE with a potential inversion, instead of a couple of two-electron processes in a single-step transfer. The electrochemical and chemical steps are found to be pH dependent.

Electrochemical flow injection analysis for the rapid determination of reducing sugars in potatoes

Wesley McCormick et al.

Summary: Non-enzymatic electrochemical sensors developed for rapid monitoring of reducing sugars in foods showed high selectivity and long-term stability. The sensors achieved optimal performance in phosphate buffer at pH 7.4 with a flow rate of 0.5 mL min(-1) and an applied potential of 0.6 V, providing rapid detection without the need for sample preparation. The sensor results were in good agreement with those from a commercially available enzymatic assay kit.
