Evaluating the antioxidant activity of different species using a novel reagentless chronopotentiometric method

Lawrence Kinyua Muthuri et al.

Summary: Antioxidants are substances that can delay or prevent oxidizing processes, and they are important for preventing and treating certain diseases. Researchers have developed various methods for evaluating antioxidant activity in different samples. A new reagentless chronopotentiometric method has been introduced for measuring the concentration of antioxidants, and its feasibility has been confirmed through experiments.

Chronopotentiometric method for assessing antioxidant activity: A reagentless measuring technique

Lawrence Kinyua Muthuri et al.

Summary: A simple chronopotentiometric method using a carbon electrode with a redox mediator layer was investigated to estimate antioxidant activity. The higher the antioxidant concentration, the higher the initial slope of the potential-time curve recorded. The performance of adsorbed and electropolymerized redox mediator layers on glassy carbon electrodes was studied and compared, with L-ascorbic acid used as the sample antioxidant.
