Azole antifungal compounds could have dual cholinesterase inhibitory potential according to virtual screening, enzyme kinetics, and toxicity studies of an inhouse library

Burak Barut et al.

Summary: Recent advances in cholinesterase inhibitors have led to the discovery of certain azole antifungals with cholinesterase inhibitory effects. In this study, a set of azole antifungal derivatives were tested for their inhibitory effects on cholinesterases, yielding potent and selective inhibitors. The active compounds showed negligible cytotoxic effects on murine fibroblast viability and could hold high potential for anticholinesterase drug design.

OPLS4: Improving Force Field Accuracy on Challenging Regimes of Chemical Space

Chao Lu et al.

Summary: The development and validation of the OPLS4 force field, which builds upon previous work with OPLS3e, improved model accuracy on challenging regimes of drug-like chemical space. A novel parametrization strategy for charged species was introduced, leading to improved accuracy on benchmarks assessing small-molecule solvation and protein-ligand binding.

Possible Role of Butyrylcholinesterase in Fat Loss and Decreases in Inflammatory Levels in Patients with Multiple Sclerosis after Treatment with Epigallocatechin Gallate and Coconut Oil: A Pilot Study

Jose Enrique de la Rubia Orti et al.

Summary: The study found that administering EGCG and ketone bodies in MS patients resulted in significant decreases in inflammation markers, increased lipolytic enzyme activity, and improved functional status. BuChE appears to play a crucial role in lipid metabolism and inflammation modulation in MS patients.
