Prevention of Chemotherapy-Induced Nausea and Vomiting in the Older Patient: Optimizing Outcomes

Jorn Herrstedt et al.

Summary: Chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV) remain significant and feared side effects of cancer therapy. Older cancer patients have a lower risk of CINV but face higher risks of dehydration and electrolyte disturbances following emesis. Current guidelines lack specific recommendations for older cancer patients, potentially leading to overtreatment in some cases.

Preparation, characterization, and in vivo biodistribution study of intranasal 131I-clonazepam-loaded phospholipid magnesome as a promising brain delivery system

Marwa Eid Sayyed et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that using I-131-CP-loaded magnesomes can effectively improve the diagnosis and/or radiotherapy of certain brain diseases. Intranasal delivery of the loaded magnesomes results in higher brain uptake and faster onset of action compared to intravenous administration, reducing non-target effects on the heart and blood.

Salvadora persica attenuates DMBA-induced mammary cancer through downregulation oxidative stress, estrogen receptor expression and proliferation and augmenting apoptosis

Alaaeldin Ahmed Hamza et al.

Summary: The ethanolic extract of Salvadora persica L. fruits (SP) showed promising chemopreventive potential against DMBA-induced mammary carcinogenesis, suppressing tumor incidence, reducing cell proliferation, inducing apoptosis, and down-regulating estrogen receptor expression. Additionally, SP extract prevented oxidative damage and induced apoptosis and cell cycle arrest in MCF-7 breast cancer cells.

Effect of nanovesicular surface-functionalization via chitosan and/or PEGylation on cytotoxicity of tamoxifen in induced-breast cancer model

Mohamed A. Megahed et al.

Summary: Chitosanization and PEGylation of Tam-loaded niosomes selectively enhance drug release in the acidic microenvironment of cancer cells, leading to increased cytotoxicity and apoptosis induction. PEGylation shows a better apoptotic effect and higher tumor selectivity, while chitosanization increases the incidence of apoptosis. Tam-loaded PEGylated niosomes demonstrate the best improvement in key cellular indicators. In vivo studies show that PEGylation has the highest tumor growth inhibition and chitosanization has lower accumulation in blood and liver tissues.
