Novel Physically Cross-Linked Curcumin-Loaded PVA/Aloe vera Hydrogel Membranes for Acceleration of Topical Wound Healing: In Vitro and In Vivo Experiments

El-Refaie S. Kenawy et al.

Summary: This study prepared novel cross-linked antimicrobial membranes composed of PVA-Aloe vera hydrogels using a novel physically cross-linked method. The membranes showed excellent antimicrobial and wound healing properties, as demonstrated by various characterization tests. The incorporation of curcumin and gentamycin further enhanced the biological and antimicrobial properties of the membranes.

Green synthesis of Nd substituted Co-Ni nanospinel ferrites: a structural, magnetic, and antibacterial/anticancer investigation

Munirah A. Almessiere et al.

Summary: In this study, nanospinel ferrites (NSFs) containing different plant extracts were synthesized using a sol-gel approach. The impact of plant extracts on the structural, morphological, and magnetic features of the final products was discussed. The results showed that the synthesis method, plant extract solution, distribution of cations, morphology, and size of NSFs significantly influenced the magnetic properties. The NSFs synthesized using cardamom and moringa plant extracts exhibited superparamagnetic behavior at room temperature. Furthermore, the NSFs containing cardamom and moringa extracts demonstrated anti-cancer activity against colorectal carcinoma cells and cervical cancer cells, as well as antimicrobial activity against Staphylococcus aureus.

Hybrid nanocomposite multinetwork hydrogel containing magnesium hydroxide nanoparticles with enhanced antibacterial activity for wound dressing applications

Jiahao Qu et al.

Summary: Efficient and cost-effective antibacterial materials are urgently needed. Here we developed a hybrid nanocomposite hydrogel called MgNPs/CS hydrogel, which showed excellent antibacterial properties, biocompatibility, and significantly promoted wound healing in vivo. Moreover, the materials used in this hydrogel are low-cost and accessible.

High-strength and self-healable poly (acrylic acid)/chitosan hydrogel with organic-inorganic hydrogen bonding networks

Chenglu Liu et al.

Summary: By incorporating acrylic acid-modified bentonite into the cross-link network, an organic-inorganic cross-linked self-healing hydrogel with excellent mechanical properties was developed. The hybrid network showed high tensile strength, compressive modulus, and elongation at break, with the formation of hydrogen bonds between the polymer chains. Additionally, the hydrogel exhibited outstanding self-healing properties with a high rate of stress and strain recovery after 4 hours.

Biosynthesis effect of Moringa oleifera leaf extract on structural and magnetic properties of Zn doped Ca-Mg nano-spinel ferrites

M. A. Almessiere et al.

Summary: ZnxCa0.5-x/2Mg0.5-x/2Fe2O4 nano-spinel ferrites were prepared using ultrasonic irradiation with and without Moringa oleifera leaf extract, and their structural, morphological, and magnetic properties were analyzed. The samples prepared with Moringa oleifera extract displayed differences in magnetic parameters, possibly due to variations in particle size.
