Different cardiovascular and pulmonary phenotypes for single- and double-knock-out mice deficient in BMP9 and BMP10

Claire Bouvard et al.

Summary: BMP9 and BMP10 play redundant roles in cardiovascular homeostasis and pulmonary arterial hypertension, but have specific roles under chronic hypoxic conditions. BMP9 contributes to chronic hypoxia-induced pulmonary vascular remodeling, while BMP10 plays a role in hypoxia-induced cardiac remodeling.

New reporter zebrafish line unveils heterogeneity among lymphatic endothelial cells during development

Maxence Fretaud et al.

Summary: In zebrafish, lymphatic endothelial cells (LECs) originate from multiple distinct progenitor populations and form organ-specific lymphatic vasculatures. A new transgenic line expressing eGFP under the control of zebrafish batf3 promoter has been established, providing a useful system to study LEC populations with heterogeneity depending on progenitor origin, tissue environment, and physiological conditions. Additionally, a novel fish-adapted tissue clearing method has been developed for deep imaging and 3D-visualization of vascular and lymphatic networks in the whole organism.
