On the Presence of Metallofullerenes in Fullerene-rich Circumstellar Envelopes

R. Barzaga et al.

Summary: The presence of neutral C-60 fullerenes in circumstellar environments has been confirmed, but the large variations in band ratios suggest the existence of additional emitters or unknown physical processes. Our model and simulations demonstrate that metallofullerenes have a significant contribution to the observed infrared spectra commonly attributed to neutral C-60. These findings explain the diverse band ratios observed in different fullerene-rich circumstellar environments and suggest that metallofullerenes are potential emitters in these environments.

DFT calculations towards the geometry optimization, electronic structure, infrared spectroscopy and UV-vis analyses of Favipiravir adsorption on the first-row transition metals doped fullerenes; a new strategy for COVID-19 therapy

Ali Shokuhi Rad et al.

Summary: This study investigated the potential of metallofullerenes as drug carriers using Density Functional Theory, finding that chromium, iron, and nickel-doped fullerenes exhibit excellent adsorption properties for Favipiravir. In-depth analysis through IR spectroscopy and UV-vis analysis was conducted to study the interactions between the drug and metallofullerenes.
