Scores for Predicting Diabetes Remission in Bariatric Surgery: a Systematic Review and Meta-analysis

Among the scores, DiaBetter had the highest AUC, while Ad-DiaRem had the lowest AUC. Ad-DiaRem showed the highest sensitivity, and IMS showed the highest specificity.

Summary: This study examines the changes in gut microbiota and immune environment caused by laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG) in morbidly obese patients. It found that LSG improved chronic inflammation in obesity by changing the composition and diversity of gut microbiota, increasing the frequency of MAIT cells in the colonic mucosa, and decreasing the frequency of Th1 cells and effector Treg cells in the peripheral blood.

Summary: This study compared the long-term outcomes of laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG) and laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (LRYGB) at 10 years. LSG was associated with a higher prevalence of gastroesophageal reflux symptoms, while the occurrence of Barrett esophagus was similar between the two procedures.

Suppression of ghrelin secretion postoperatively might be a key factor contributing to this early improved glycemia homeostasis.
