Somatostatin attenuates intestinal epithelial barrier injury during acute intestinal ischemia-reperfusion through Tollip/Myeloiddifferentiationfactor 88/Nuclear factor kappa-B signaling

Yan Tian et al.

Summary: In the process of ischemia-reperfusion injury, intestinal ischemia and inflammation intertwine, leading to tissue damage. However, somatostatin can protect against intestinal epithelial barrier dysfunction caused by reperfusion, and its mechanism involves upregulation of Tollip and inhibition of TLR2/MyD88/NF-κB signaling.

Inflammatory cytokines directly disrupt the bovine intestinal epithelial barrier

Charles K. Crawford et al.

Summary: This study investigates the direct effects of three inflammatory cytokines (TNF alpha, IFN gamma, and IL-18) on the bovine intestinal barrier. The results show that TNF alpha and IFN gamma treatment lead to intestinal epithelial barrier dysfunction and alterations in tight junction morphology and cellular turnover.

Interferons Are Pro-Inflammatory Cytokines in Sheared-Stressed Human Aortic Valve Endothelial Cells

Ivan Parra-Izquierdo et al.

Summary: The study found that IFNs promote inflammation and reduce TNF-α-mediated migration in human VEC. Additionally, monocyte adhesion was higher in inflamed aVEC sheared under multiaxial flow, which may be relevant to understanding the initial stages of CAVD.
