Synthesis and Properties of 1,2,4-Triazol-3-one-Based Energetic Compounds

Pengju Yang et al.

Summary: 1,2,4-Triazol-3-one (TO) was used as the research object in this paper. A series of TO derivatives were synthesized and characterized, showing excellent thermal stability, low sensitivity, good detonation performance, and positive heats of formation. Compound 6, with high decomposition temperature, low sensitivity, and decent detonation performance, can be used as an insensitive and thermostable energetic material.

Polynitro-N-aryl-C-nitro-pyrazole/imidazole Derivatives: Thermally Stable-Insensitive Energetic Materials

Srinivas Vangara et al.

Summary: A series of methoxy-substituted polynitro-aryl-pyrazole/imidazole compounds with readily oxidizable functional groups have been synthesized. The molecular structure of these compounds has been confirmed by single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The energetic properties of the synthesized compounds have been determined through theoretical and experimental studies. Most of the compounds exhibit good thermal stability and resistance to impact, with some molecules even showing better detonation velocity and pressure than TNT.

Zhiwei Zeng et al.

Summary: This study describes a strategy to improve the detonation properties and thermal stability of energetic compounds by converting N atom to a C-NO2 group, resulting in NH2-NO2-NH2 block. A high-density amino-nitro-amino-substituted nitramine 3 was successfully synthesized using this strategy. Compound 3 exhibits high detonation performances and good thermal stability, surpassing RDX and showing great application potentials.

Xin Li et al.

Summary: The study presented two series of energetic compounds, one with high heat of formation due to the N-4 linkage, and the other with low mechanical sensitivity due to their planar structures. Through strong pi-pi stacking and extensive hydrogen-bonding interactions between molecules, the properties of mechanical sensitivity and thermal stability were improved.
