Hepatocellular carcinoma risk-stratification based on ASGR1 in circulating epithelial cells for cancer interception

Amparo Roa-Colomo et al.

Summary: The aim of this study was to evaluate the phenotypic and genetic heterogeneity of circulating epithelial cells (CECs) based on asialoglycoprotein receptor 1 (ASGR1) and miR-122-5p expression as potential diagnostic and prognostic tools in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and liver cirrhosis (LC) patients. The presence of CECs increased the risk of HCC, and the absence of ASGR1 and miR-122-5p expression correlated significantly with HCC incidence. These findings suggest that ASGR1 and miR-122-5p expression may be used as independent prognostic and risk-stratification markers in LC and early-stage HCC patients.

Breast Cancer-Delivered Exosomal miRNA as Liquid Biopsy Biomarkers for Metastasis Prediction: A Focus on Translational Research with Clinical Applicability

Oana Baldasici et al.

Summary: Metastasis is the leading cause of breast cancer-related mortality, and efforts are being made to identify blood-based biomarkers that can distinguish highly metastatic cancer patients. Exosomal miRNAs hold promise as prognostic biomarkers for metastatic breast cancer and have shown potential in both research and clinical applications.

Potential value of circulatory microRNA10b gene expression and its target E-cadherin as a prognostic and metastatic prediction marker for breast cancer

Fatma Ibrahim Dwedar et al.

Summary: The study found that circulating levels of miR-10b and serum sE-cadherin were significantly elevated in breast cancer patients compared to controls. Serum miR-10b showed a progressive upregulation in advanced stages, with higher levels in metastatic BC. The combined use of serum miR-10b and sE-cadherin exhibited high sensitivity and specificity for detecting BC metastasis.
