Effects of boric acid and lithium hydroxide on the corrosion behaviors of 316LN stainless steel in simulating hot functional test high-temperature pressurized water

Liyuan Peng et al.

Summary: The effects of boric acid and lithium hydroxide on the corrosion behaviors of 316LN stainless steel in simulated high-temperature pressurized water were investigated. The results showed that increasing the concentration of boric acid or lithium hydroxide decreased the corrosion resistance of 316LN stainless steel. Boric acid was recommended for the water chemistry, while lithium hydroxide alone was found to be inappropriate. The solubility of oxides in high-temperature pressurized water was calculated, and a promising water chemistry for high-temperature pressurized water was proposed.

Characterization of oxide layers formed on type 316 stainless steel exposed to the simulated PWR primary water environment with varying dissolved hydrogen and zinc concentrations

Hyeon Bae Lee et al.

Summary: The study investigated the effect of dissolved hydrogen content and zinc addition on the corrosion behavior of type 316 stainless steel in the primary water environment of pressurized water reactors. Increasing DH concentration led to a thicker oxide layer, while the addition of zinc resulted in a thinner oxide layer. Oxide film with zinc incorporation showed significant increase in reaction resistance and bode impedance value, indicating better corrosion resistance in the presence of zinc and normal DH concentration.

Effect of zinc addition scenarios on general corrosion of Alloy 690 in borated and lithiated water at 330 °C

Dong-Seok Lim et al.

Summary: This study investigated the corrosion behavior of Alloy 690 under four different zinc addition scenarios in circulating water at 330 degrees C. It was found that earlier zinc addition led to lower corrosion rates and thinner oxide films. The study also elaborated on how zinc addition suppresses the radiation source term and its behavior when incorporated into spinel oxides.

Effects of Zinc Addition on the Corrosion Behavior of Pre-Filmed Alloy 690 in Borated and Lithiated Water at 330 °C

Soon-Hyeok Jeon et al.

Summary: The study found that the pre-filmed Alloy 690 exposed to water containing zinc had reduced corrosion rates, release rates, and oxide thicknesses compared to those not exposed to zinc, which was attributed to the formation of a chromium-rich inner oxide layer incorporating zinc.
