Experimental and Theoretical Research on the Bearing Mechanism of Group Anchors in Sand

Xuejiu Wang et al.

Summary: This study investigated the bearing mechanism and efficiency of group anchors in sand through experiments and theoretical analysis. The results showed that the load-displacement relationships of group anchors were similar to that of single anchors, exhibiting nonlinearity. The load-carrying capacity of group anchors had a clear superposition effect, and was not a simple sum of two single anchors' capacities. The strain field and shear stress field were used to analyze and characterize the bearing mechanism of group anchors qualitatively and quantitatively, respectively.

Anisotropy and compressive strength evaluation of solid fired clay bricks by testing small specimens

Albert Cabane et al.

Summary: This study presents the use and viability assessment of a non-standard 40 x 40 x 40 mm(3) specimen for measuring the compressive strength of solid fired clay bricks. The non-standard specimen has the advantage of reducing the sampled material volume and allows for testing in different brick dimensions. The experimental results and statistical analysis demonstrate that the proposed specimen can reliably estimate the compressive strengths of solid fired clay bricks.
