Towards a consistent lattice Boltzmann model for two-phase fluids

S. A. Hosseini et al.

Summary: This paper revisits the construction of discrete kinetic models for single-component isothermal two-phase flows. The authors show the correspondence between the kinetic model for a non-ideal fluid and the Navier-Stokes equations with a non-ideal equation of state. They also introduce a scaling based on velocity increments to recover the full Navier-Stokes-Korteweg equations. The proposed model is validated on various benchmarks and exhibits thermodynamic and hydrodynamic consistency.

Droplet impact on a heated porous plate above the Leidenfrost temperature: A lattice Boltzmann study

Geng Wang et al.

Summary: This study investigated the dynamics of droplet impact on a heated porous plate above the Leidenfrost temperature using a multiphase thermal lattice Boltzmann model. The results showed that higher plate temperature, larger Weber number, and smaller pore intervals can accelerate the droplet rebound and promote the droplet pancake bouncing. The droplet evaporation mass loss increases linearly with the impingement Weber number and the plate opening fractions.

Essentially entropic lattice Boltzmann model: Theory and simulations

Mohammad Atif et al.

Summary: This paper presents a detailed description of the entropic lattice Boltzmann model and its closed-form solutions. By iteratively solving the nonlinear entropy evolution equation, this model ensures numerical stability. Test cases demonstrate the consistency between the analytic solution and the iterative solution. The extension of the analytic solution allows for a wider range of heat transfer problems.

A unified lattice Boltzmann model and application to multiphase flows

Kai H. Luo et al.

Summary: This work introduces a unified lattice Boltzmann model framework that integrates various collision operators, allowing for easier model comparison and development. The flexibility of this framework in addressing different multiphase flow problems demonstrates the power of lattice Boltzmann method and makes it more accessible to non-specialists.
