Summary: This paper focuses on refinery-wide planning operations under uncertainties in product demand and price, using a robust optimization framework coupled with global optimization. Nonlinear surrogate models are built using industrial/simulation data sets, and a large-scale nonconvex mixed integer nonlinear programming (MINLP) model is formulated. The study incorporates uncertainties in product demand and sale price into the model to obtain a robust counterpart optimization model, and applies a global optimization framework to an industrial refinery site with illustrative cases.
