Designing and planning of Ethiopia's biomass-to-biofuel supply chain through integrated strategic-tactical optimization model considering economic dimension

Brook Tesfamichael et al.

Summary: Despite the importance of biofuels in developing countries, challenges such as economic unattractiveness and high initial investment costs hinder the development of biofuel. This study aims to develop an optimization model to maximize profit and minimize investment costs, focusing on biomass-to-biofuel supply chains. By considering biomass resources potential, the model provides planning support for policy-makers over a 20-year horizon, addressing the economic challenges faced in developing biofuels.
