Tantalum based single, double, and triple atom catalysts supported on g-C2N monolayer for effective nitrogen reduction reaction: a comparative DFT investigation

Anjumun Rasool et al.

Summary: Efficient and low cost electrocatalysts for N-2 reduction to NH3 are a major challenge in the 21st century. Through first principle simulations, it is found that single and triple Ta-atom catalysts anchored to C2N monolayer show superior NRR performance with enhanced selectivity and ability to suppress competitive reactions. The triple Ta-atom catalyst shows particularly promising results, comparable to Ru based single atom catalyst, emphasizing the importance of triple atom-based catalysts for electrocatalytic applications.

Computational evaluation of superalkali-decorated graphene nanoribbon as advanced hydrogen storage materials

Peng Gao et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that homo superalkali NM4 clusters with high tetrahedral geometry can be used to develop high-performance hydrogen storage materials. By decorating NLi4 clusters onto 1D graphene nanoribbons, the electronic charges on Li atoms were successfully transferred to the monolayer, leading to polarization of adsorbed hydrogen molecules and enhanced electrostatic interactions. This novel material has a hydrogen storage capacity of up to 11.2 wt %, surpassing the target value of 5.5 wt % set by the U.S. Department of Energy.
