An optimized kinetic model for H2/CO combustion in CO2 diluent at elevated pressures

Wenyu Li et al.

Summary: Oxy-fuel combustion is a promising strategy for carbon capture. The existing syngas combustion models have been improved to enhance the prediction accuracy of ignition delay time and flame propagation speed, and the chemical and physical effects of CO2 as a diluent have been investigated.

A shock tube experiment and an improved high-temperature diisopropyl ketone model by Bayesian optimization

Qianjin Lin et al.

Summary: In this study, ignition delay times (IDTs) for di-isopropyl ketone (DIPK) were measured under different conditions, and a revised DIPK sub-model was proposed. The optimized model accurately predicts the combustion characteristics of DIPK without violating the collision limit.

High pressure ignition delay times of H2/CO mixture in carbon dioxide and argon diluent

Miad Karimi et al.

Summary: The study investigates the ignition properties of syngas fuel in high-pressure conditions for sCO(2) power cycle applications, and evaluates the performance of different kinetic models. Experimental results show that CO2 dilute gas and Argon have different chemical effects on IDT, but globally CO2 does not significantly alter the IDT compared to Argon.

Ignition delay times of n-butane and i-butane under O2/CO2 atmospheres: Shock tube experiments and kinetic model

Chao Peng et al.

Summary: Pressurized oxy-fuel combustion is considered an advanced technique with lower cost and little decrease in efficiency compared to conventional PC systems without CO2 capture. Experimental and modeling work on n-butane ignition delay times under different conditions validates the updated chemical kinetic model Oxymech2.0 Plus, which shows improved prediction accuracy for butane combustion in O2 / CO2 atmospheres. The effects of equivalence ratios and CO2 concentrations on the ignition delay times of n-butane were analyzed.

Understanding the antagonistic effect of methanol as a component in surrogate fuel models: A case study of methanol/n-heptane mixtures

Yingtao Wu et al.

Summary: The study found that increasing methanol in a blend can promote or inhibit reactivity of the mixture at different temperatures, and at low temperatures, the competition between methanol and n-heptane plays a significant role in autoignition. Additionally, at high temperatures, methanol produces higher concentrations of H(O)2 radicals, promoting the reactivity of methanol/n-heptane mixtures for ignition delay times and laminar flame speeds.

Representing Model Discrepancy in Bound-to-Bound Data Collaboration

Wenyu Li et al.

Summary: This study extends the methodology of bound-to-bound data collaboration in an optimization-based deterministic uncertainty quantification framework to explicitly account for model discrepancy. The discrepancy is represented as a linear combination of finite basis functions and modifications are made to prediction formulas. Prior information about model discrepancy can also be included as additional constraints to enhance framework accuracy. Dataset consistency, a central feature of B2BDC, is generalized based on the extended framework.
