Propagation of ignition kernel in CO2-diluted, CH4/air mixtures

Viswanath R. Katta et al.

Summary: Recent experiments showed that ignition in N2-diluted mixtures is easier than in CO2-diluted mixtures near minimum ignition energies. Numerical study revealed the influence of diluent gas on ignition success in a flowing environment, with good agreement between computations and measurements. Further simulations identified the mechanisms responsible for ignition-inhibition characteristics of CO2.
