Summary: By combining a supramolecular protein-based assembly platform and a pH-responsive linker, the authors have devised a convenient assembly of a trivalent protein-drug conjugate that possesses distinct features of ADCs. These ADC-like conjugates target cancer cells that overexpress somatostatin receptors, enable controlled release in the cancer cell microenvironment through a new pH-responsive biotin linker, and exhibit stability in biological media.

Summary: This study focuses on the formulation and characterization of oil-in-water Pluronic F127 microemulsions to enhance the bioavailability of doxorubicin (DOX). The interaction details of DOX with ethyl butyrate, sodium caprylate, and Pluronic F127 were investigated using density functional theory calculations. The experimental results show that Pluronic F127/DOX microemulsions induce morphological changes and have stronger cytotoxic effects compared to standard DOX.

Summary: Dual-modal magnetic resonance/fluorescent imaging (MRI/FI) is of great significance in tumor diagnosis. The newly developed polypeptide-based derivatives, YIGSR-Gd-DTPA-RhB and RGD-Gd-DTPA-RhB, demonstrate good tumor-targeting property, low cytotoxicity, and highly enhanced imaging effect in mice tumors.

Summary: This study investigates the effect of amphiphilic moieties concentration on fouling-release properties of a polyurethane coating system. Surface characterization shows the presence of amphiphilic domains due to the introduction of the self-stratifying amphiphilic additive. The fouling-release performance of the surfaces reaches a plateau once a critical amphiphilic concentration (CAC) is achieved.

Summary: A series of novel bifunctional single-molecule hydrogen-bonding organocatalysts based on fluorinated tertiary alcohol were synthesized for the metal-free polymerization of alpha-amino acid N-carboxyanhydride (NCA) monomer. The preferred bifunctional fluoroalcohol catalyst mediated polymerization in a fast and controlled manner, resulting in high molecular weight polypeptides with relatively narrow molecular weight distribution. A self-accelerating effect of polymerization induced by the alpha-helical structure of polypeptides was observed, and a possible polymerization pathway was discussed.

Summary: A simple hydrothermal strategy was reported for the synthesis of a bimetallic metal - N-, S-doped carbon (NS-C@PtRu) hybrid derived from L-cysteine-mediated self-assembly of PtRu. The NS-C@PtRu showed excellent peroxidase-like activity and colloidal stability, enabling efficient detection of H2O2 and cholesterol. The results indicated NS-C@PtRu as a highly efficient catalyst for cholesterol detection in serum samples, demonstrating good selectivity and recovery.

Summary: By systematically investigating coacervates formed by different nucleoside triphosphates with poly-L-lysine and poly-L-arginine, the study revealed insights into their thermal stability, base stacking interactions, and effects on salt concentration and temperature. A simple relation between the critical temperature and salt concentration at the critical point can be derived. Mixing different NTPs with oppositely charged peptides can significantly impact the stability and bioavailability of the formed condensates.

Summary: Bimetallic alginate aerogel beads with Ca2+-Ba2+ solution showed higher encapsulation efficiency and more stable structure in drug releasing. The swelling capacity of bimetallic beads was lower than monometallic beads, and a rapid high-level releasing of ibuprofen was achieved in artificial intestinal fluid.

Summary: CNPs, as a type of nanocomposite hydrogel particles, were fabricated using an ionic gelation strategy and demonstrated dual (pH and thermo)-responsive controlled drug release in vitro. The results showed that CNPs disassembled at 55 degrees C to release the encapsulated drug molecules in a controlled fashion, indicating their potential as a promising drug delivery platform for the GI tract and colon targeted drug delivery.

Summary: The asymmetric distribution of lipids on the inner and outer membranes of a cell is crucial for physiological and immunological activities. Synthetic asymmetric vesicles are prepared using amphiphilic block copolymers, or self-assembled by two hydrophilic segments. Effective fluorescence titration methods can be developed to determine the uneven distribution of segments in the vesicles. This work demonstrates the potential of sequence-controlled polymers for creating challenging self-assembled structures with important functions and properties.
