Fusion peptide engineered statically-versatile titanium implant simultaneously enhancing anti-infection, vascularization and osseointegration

Junjian Chen et al.

Summary: This study developed a statically-versatile titanium implant by immobilizing an innovative fusion peptide via Cu(I)-catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloaddition, showing higher efficiency than traditional methods. The FP-engineered implant exhibited strong antimicrobial activity against clinical bacteria and simultaneously promoted cellular proliferation, angiogenesis, and osteogenesis. In vivo assays demonstrated that the implant effectively killed bacteria, promoted vascularization and osseointegration, providing a promising strategy for orthopedic implants.
