Gadolinium doped red-emissive carbon dots as targeted theranostic agents for fluorescence and MR imaging guided cancer phototherapy

Min Jiao et al.

Summary: This study describes a multifunctional carbon dots (CDs) nanoplatform for cancer treatment, which integrates fluorescence imaging, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and photothermal therapy (PTT). By surface modification and doping with gadolinium, the synthesized CDs exhibit strong fluorescence emission, significant MRI contrast, and efficient photothermal conversion. In vitro and in vivo experiments demonstrate the excellent performance of these CDs in tumor-specific imaging and photothermal therapy under the guidance of fluorescence and MRI.

Adapting Imaging Protocols for PET-CT and PET-MRI for Immunotherapy Monitoring

Bettina Beuthien-Baumann et al.

Summary: This review discusses the possible advantages and methods of applying combined imaging protocols of PET-CT and PET-MRI in staging and restaging patients under immunotherapy to achieve multi-hybrid imaging in a single visit. Despite the relatively long acquisition times of PET-MRI scans, they have the potential to provide superb soft tissue contrast and functional information, although not as widely used in oncologic imaging as PET-CT.
