Novel magnetic silk fibroin scaffolds with delayed degradation for potential long-distance vascular repair

Xin Liu et al.

Summary: A novel magnetic SF scaffold (MSFCs) was prepared by an improved infiltration method, exhibiting better crystallinity, magnetocaloric properties, and mechanical strength compared to SF scaffold (SFC). The delayed degradation of MSFCs was attributed to the formation of hydrogen bonds and complexing to tyrosine to inhibit hydrolase by internal iron atoms. Doping MNPs showed a beneficial effect on beta-crystallization of protein and did not affect the function of macrophages.

Design and implementation of compact dual-band conformal antenna for leadless cardiac pacemaker system

Deepti Sharma et al.

Summary: In this paper, a circularly polarized Hilbert curve inspired loop antenna is described for designing compact implantable medical devices. By using high dielectric constant material and fractal geometry design, a small-sized antenna is achieved to fit the internal capsule shape of the leadless pacemaker, showing good performance in experimental verification.

Uniform-saturation modification for hydrophilicity improvement of large-scale PET by plasma-electrified treatment

Xi Zhu et al.

Summary: An efficient air dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) tube electrode array was established for large-scale treatment of polyethylene glycol terephthalate (PET) film, and its discharge characteristics and treatment effects were investigated experimentally and by simulation. The results showed that increasing the number of electrodes and applied voltage led to diffuse and uniform discharge with strong luminous intensity, and increasing the applied voltage and decreasing the treatment speed enhanced surface hydrophilicity and modification uniformity.

Viscoelastic surface electrode arrays to interface with viscoelastic tissues

Christina M. Tringides et al.

Summary: This study introduces a fully viscoelastic microelectrode array for electrical stimulation and signal recording of heart and brain activities in vivo, utilizing an alginate matrix and carbon-based nanomaterials encapsulated in a viscoelastic hydrogel. The combination of viscoelastic materials enables the array to closely match the biomechanical properties of soft biological tissues, overcoming previous limitations. The use of hydrogels as outer layers and a hydrogel-based conductor enhanced with carbon nanomaterials allows for the fabrication of electrode arrays compatible with standard electrophysiology platforms.
