The Li(H2O)n dehydration behavior influences the Li+ ion adsorption on H4Ti5O12 with different facets exposed

Bing Zhao et al.

Summary: In this study, two different morphologies of Li4Ti5O12 materials were synthesized and their adsorption behaviors were studied through experiments and calculations. The results showed that the material with the (01-1) facet exhibited higher adsorption capacity and faster adsorption rate. The analysis of the adsorption mechanism revealed the importance of dehydration processes and ion exchange reactions in the adsorption behavior.

Synthesis of hybrid magnesium hydroxide/magnesium oxide nanorods [Mg (OH)2/MgO] for prompt and efficient adsorption of ciprofloxacin from aqueous solutions

Omar Falyouna et al.

Summary: In this study, a modified precipitation technique was used to synthesize hybrid magnesium hydroxide/magnesium oxide nanorods (Mg(OH)(2)/MgO), which showed excellent adsorption capacity for the antibiotic ciprofloxacin (CIP) in water. The synthesized Mg(OH)(2)/MgO was characterized by various analysis techniques. The results demonstrated that Mg(OH)(2)/MgO efficiently removed CIP from water within a short period of time, and its adsorption capacity was at least 2-fold higher compared to other reported nanomaterials. The spent Mg(OH)(2)/MgO was also analyzed, revealing the mechanisms responsible for CIP adsorption. Additionally, the promising performance of Mg(OH)(2)/MgO in treating simulated CIP-contaminated river water was demonstrated.

Interlayer intercalation of Li/Al-LDHs responsible for high-efficiency boron extraction

Yanan Pan et al.

Summary: In this study, Li/Al-LDHs were used as efficient adsorbents to extract boron resources. The adsorption performance of Li/Al-LDHs was influenced by pH and coexisting anions. The study found that boron entering the interlayer of Li/Al-LDHs destroyed the pore uniformity and formed various borate species. Cyclic experiments confirmed the recyclability of Li/Al-LDHs.

Summary: The anthropogenic emission of boron to rivers has posed a serious threat to water quality and ecosystems, but can be effectively removed through adsorption and coagulation methods. Boron sources mainly include coal-fired and geothermal power plants, as well as oil/gas extraction activities. Various types of adsorbents and coagulants, reaction mechanisms, progress in the past 5 years, and future research prospects and improvements have been discussed comprehensively in this review.

The performance and mechanism of recovering lithium on H4Ti5O12 adsorbents influenced by (110) and (111) facets exposed

Bing Zhao et al.

Summary: This study investigated the adsorption behavior of flower-shaped Li4Ti5O12 and octahedral Li4Ti5O12 on (110) and (111) facets, showing that the octahedral Li4Ti5O12 has higher ions selectivity, greater adsorption capacity, and better reuse ability due to the special (111) facet exposed. The research found that the Li+ migration onto the Li4Ti5O12 (111) is easier than Li4Ti5O12 (110), indicating larger adsorption capacity and better reuse ability on (111) facets.
