Ambient-temperature porogen-free method for preparation of silica-based macroporous materials

Dan Trunov et al.

Summary: The study focuses on synthesizing silica-based macroporous aggregates composed of silica nanoparticles using a template-free method, demonstrating the ability to tailor pore size distribution by varying primary particle size. The prepared aggregates have different pore sizes, porosities, specific surface areas, and functional groups, showing the potential for functionalizing the aggregate surface. The application of the prepared aggregates was demonstrated by immobilizing urease from Canavalia ensiformis, resulting in higher enzyme activity compared to free enzymes.

Characteristics of Crosslinking Polymers Play Major Roles in Improving the Stability and Catalytic Properties of Immobilized Thermomyces lanuginosus Lipase

Yuhong Mao et al.

Summary: This study aimed to improve the stability and catalytic properties of Thermomyces lanuginosus lipase (TLL) adsorbed on a hydrophobic support. Bridging units, polyethylenimine (PEI) and chitosan (CS), were successfully applied to in situ crosslink the immobilized lipase molecules, resulting in improved lipase stability and catalytic efficiency.

Summary: This study successfully prepared polypyrrole/cellulose nanocomposites via in situ polymerization in specific reaction media, and investigated the influence of cellulose template morphology and reaction media on the material properties. It was found that aqueous reaction media favored the formation of a uniform coating structure with higher conductivity.

Study of the Shear-Thinning Effect between Polymer Nanoparticle Surfaces during Shear-Induced Aggregation

Jose Francisco Wilson et al.

Summary: The research found that an increase in system temperature leads to an increase in aggregate size of polymer nanoparticles due to increased adhesion between NP surfaces. Additionally, at temperatures above the T-g of the polymer composing the shell, an increase in shear rate causes a reduction in interparticle contact strength, suggesting the presence of a shear-thinning effect during contact.

Summary: The methodology presented in this work is a result of interactions between junior and senior XPS users within the CasaXPS framework, particularly through workshops organized by IMN. The discussions from these workshops have been instrumental in developing the XPS data processing concept and promoting interdisciplinary collaboration in surface analysis problem-solving. This methodology has evolved over subsequent workshops and now represents the philosophy used in CasaXPS spectral data processing paradigm.
