Diffuse Involvement of Pancreas is not Always Autoimmune Pancreatitis

Summary: This study aimed to determine the prevalence of diffuse involvement of the pancreas and identify findings of malignancies using enhancement computed tomography (CT). The study found that diffuse enlargement of the pancreas was associated with a high risk of malignancy, with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma being the most common malignant lesion. Other rare malignant lesions included pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor, lymphoma, metastasis, solid pseudopapillary neoplasm, and acinar cell carcinoma. The study also identified specific imaging features that predicted malignancies in the pancreas.
