Comparison of Bioabsorbable Steroid-Eluting Sinus Stents Versus Nasopore After Endoscopic Sinus Surgery: A Multicenter, Randomized, Controlled, Single-Blinded Clinical Trial

Zhenxiao Huang et al.

Summary: This study compared the efficacy of bioabsorbable steroid-eluting sinus stents with absorbable Nasopore packs after endoscopic sinus surgery for chronic rhinosinusitis. Results showed that steroid-eluting stents significantly reduced the need for postoperative surgical intervention and polyp formation compared to Nasopore, and were effective in preventing severe adhesions. Both the stents and Nasopore packs were effective in maintaining ethmoid sinus patency and preventing middle turbinate lateralization. Further prospective cohort studies with long-term outcomes are needed.

Summary: The Korean Society of Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and Korean Rhinologic Society have developed a clinical practice guideline for nasal irrigation in adult patients with chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS). This guideline addresses the knowledge gaps, practice variations, and clinical concerns associated with nasal irrigation. Evidence-based recommendations were developed and the guideline focuses on the most important quality improvement opportunities.

Clinical and Laboratory Features of Various Criteria of Eosinophilic Chronic Rhinosinusitis: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Do Hyun Kim et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the differences in clinical and laboratory features between eosinophilic chronic rhinosinusitis (ECRS) and non-ECRS and compared diagnostic criteria for ECRS. The results showed that ECRS and non-ECRS have distinct clinical and laboratory features, with higher levels of eosinophils in ECRS.
