In Vivo Uranium Sequestration using a Nanoscale Metal-Organic Framework

Xiaomei Wang et al.

Summary: A novel agent for actinide sequestration utilizing a nanoscale metal-organic framework (nano-MOF) UiO-66-(COOH)(4)-180 is proposed, demonstrating rapid uranium uptake kinetics and efficient in vivo uranium removal. The material accumulates partially in kidneys and femurs, facilitating the in vivo sequestration of uranium, with significant reductions in uranyl deposits compared to the commercial actinide decorporation agent ZnNa3-DTPA.

Synthesis and Characterizations of a Plutonium(III) Crown Ether Inclusion Complex

Kai Li et al.

Summary: The study presented the synthesis, crystal structure, spectroscopic analyses, and theoretical calculations of the first trivalent plutonium crown ether inclusion complex Pu-III-18C6. It was found that the plutonium atom is completely encapsulated within the cavity of the 18-crown-6, forming a distorted geometric structure, with weak Pu-O dative bond confirmed by theoretical evaluation. This work may enhance the understanding of host-guest interactions between trivalent transuranic elements and macrocyclic ligands.
