Summary: There is a strong association between social relationships and health. Cumulative risk of compromised physical, mental and social health in adulthood due to family conflict and financial strain during childhood: a retrospective analysis based on survey data representative of 19 European countries

Ziggi Ivan Santini et al.

Summary: Childhood family conflict and financial strain have been found to increase the risk of various health and social problems in adulthood among Europeans. Financial strain was more common in older age groups, while family conflict was more common in younger age groups. Adulthood socioeconomic disadvantage mediated a significant proportion of the associations with financial strain, but not with conflict.

Socioeconomic status, well-being and mortality: a comprehensive life course analysis of panel data, Germany, 1984-2016

Diego Montano

Summary: The study revealed reciprocal effects between income and well-being, with well-being having a greater influence on income. History of satisfaction with health was found to be a stronger predictor of longevity than income history. Individuals with tertiary education had lower mortality risk, while unemployment was associated with lower income and well-being levels. The study concluded that education is a superior indicator than income in investigating social determinants of well-being and mortality.
