Understanding the role of potassium incorporation in realizing transparent p-type ZnO thin films

Sujun Guan et al.

Summary: This study reports the fabrication of potassium-incorporated transparent zinc oxide (K-ZnO) thin films by subjecting ZnO thin films to high-pressure molten-salt treatment (hp-MST) in potassium nitrate (KNO3), which successfully led to p-type semiconductor films. The change in oxygen vacancies and carrier type with increasing hp-MST temperature suggests successful potassium incorporation into the surface of the ZnO thin films. This study introduces a simple and efficient alternative strategy for homojunction semiconductors that can be used to prepare next-generation highly efficient semiconductor devices.

Coke-resistant Ni-based bimetallic catalysts for the dry reforming of methane: effects of indium on the Ni/Al2O3 catalyst

Chuanshen Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, Ni-In/γ-Al2O3 catalysts were prepared and used for the dry reforming of methane, and it was found that the catalyst with a Ni/In ratio of 3/2 exhibited the optimal conversion activity and stability. The addition of In increased the oxygen species and oxygen vacancy amounts on the catalyst, enhancing the CO2 conversion rate and reducing carbon deposition by promoting Ni particle dispersion and inhibiting agglomeration.

A novel adsorbent of bentonite modified chitosan-microcrystalline cellulose aerogel prepared by bidirectional regeneration strategy for Pb(II) removal

Yan Chen et al.

Summary: In this study, a novel method for increasing the anti-hydrolytic ability and mechanical strength of traditional chitosan aerogel (CSA) was developed by bidirectional regeneration of chitosan and microcrystalline cellulose to synthesize chitosan-microcrystalline cellulose aerogel (CS-MCCA). Bentonite (BT) was introduced in the regeneration process to enhance the adsorption rate of CSA, leading to the development of an efficient adsorbent for Pb(II) removal, bentonite-chitosan-microcrystalline cellulose aerogel (BT-CS-MCCA). The bidirectional regeneration strategy of biomass resources presented a brand-new path for utilization in wastewater treatment.
