MAPO-18 Catalysts for the Methanol to Olefins Process: Influence of Catalyst Acidity in a High-Pressure Syngas (CO and H2) Environment

Jingxiu Xie et al.

Summary: The transition to decentralized chemical plants using distributed feedstocks requires simpler downstream unit operations. Through the study of a series of isomorphically substituted zeotype catalysts, it was found that M(II)-substituted MAPO-18s demonstrate superior performance in the methanol to olefins (MTO) reaction, and co-feeding experiments revealed the inhibiting effect of CO on olefin hydrogenation.

The regulation mechanism of cationic substitution in morphology-controlled oxy-spinel for oxygen evolution reaction

Huan Yang et al.

Summary: In this study, well-organized nanoarrays of nickel-, copper-, zinc-cobalt spinel oxides were controllably fabricated, and the growth process and catalytic mechanism for enhancing the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) activity were investigated. The results showed that cationic substitution can promote the catalytic activity, with copper substitution having the greatest impact on the valence state of cobalt active sites. This work provides new insights for the design of high-performance OER catalysts.

Efficient heterogeneous acid synthesis and stability enhancement of UiO-66 impregnated with ammonium sulfate for biodiesel production

Hui Li et al.

Summary: Sulfuric zirconia is a potential heterogeneous acid catalyst for esterification in biodiesel production, but faces challenges in catalytic stability. By using UiO-66 and ammonium sulfate, a high efficient acid catalyst was synthesized, with 'two-stage calcination' to enhance stability. The catalyst prepared under nitrogen atmosphere showed higher catalytic activity, achieving 96.2% oleic acid conversion at optimum conditions, and the second calcination reduced conversion decrement by 66.25% within five cycles.

Acidity effect on benzene methylation kinetics over substituted H-MeAlPO-5 catalysts

Magnus Morten et al.

Summary: The study focused on the effect of acid strength on the kinetics of benzene methylation with metal-substituted H-MeAlPO-5 materials. The results revealed a linear relationship between acid strength and methylation activation energy, with significant differences in byproduct distribution between different catalysts. Additionally, the Mg-substituted catalyst showed the highest activity for the selective methylation of alkenes, as compared to other catalysts.

Oxygen vacancy engineering in Fe doped akhtenskite-type MnO2 for low-temperature toluene oxidation

Yu Wang et al.

Summary: This study examined two types of oxygen vacancies (V-O) and their concentrations in MnO2 catalysts, finding that catalysts with higher concentrations of V-O (FM) exhibited superior reaction rates and stability compared to other types. Additionally, in situ DRIFTS spectra revealed that higher concentrations of V-O (FM) sites accelerated the transformation of intermediates, leading to the oxidation of toluene into CO2 and H2O.

Highly active and water tolerant Pt/MFe2O4 (M = Co and Ni) catalysts for low temperature CO oxidation

Meng-Ting Zhu et al.

Summary: Pt supported on CoFe2O4 and NiFe2O4 spinel oxides exhibited higher activity for low temperature CO oxidation compared to monometallic oxides. The interaction between Pt and the spinel oxide facilitated oxygen species activation and weakened CO adsorption strength on Pt atoms. These catalysts also showed excellent water tolerance, making them promising for practical applications.

Unraveling the decisive role of surface CeO2 nanoparticles in the Pt-CeO2/MnO2 hetero-catalysts for boosting toluene oxidation: Synergistic effect of surface decorated and intrinsic O-vacancies

Shengpeng Mo et al.

Summary: Oxygen vacancy engineering plays a vital role in efficient degradation of volatile organic compounds in nanomaterials. The Pt-0.15Ce-Mn catalyst demonstrates superior catalytic activity for toluene oxidation due to more oxygen vacancies, excellent redox ability, and well dispersion of Pt. Introduction of CeO2 NPs induces the generation of more oxygen vacancies and new structure defects, leading to lower formation energy of oxygen vacancy and boosting remarkable catalytic activity for deep toluene oxidation through a synergistic effect of dual oxygen vacancies.

Linfeng Hu et al.

Summary: An enantioselective tandem Friedel-Crafts alkylation/annulation of indoles with diazoacetoacetate enones was achieved in one pot using a Rh-II/Sc-III dual-metallic catalyst system. A series of dihydrocarbazoles were obtained with moderate yields and good to excellent ee values. Control experiments confirmed the critical role of Sc-III in both alkylation and annulation processes.
