Ruthenium-Catalyzed Vinylene Carbonate Annulation by C-H/N-H Functionalizations: Step-Economical Access to Indoles

This study describes a mild protocol for the halogenation of arenes with electron-withdrawing substituents catalyzed by Bronsted acid, providing an efficient method for the synthesis of aryl halides.

Sunlight Induced and Recyclable g-C3N4 Catalyzed C-H Sulfenylation of Quinoxalin-2(1H)-Ones

Summary: A sunlight-promoted sulfenylation reaction of quinoxalin-2(1H)-ones using recyclable graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) as a heterogeneous photocatalyst has been developed. Various 3-sulfenylated quinoxalin-2(1H)-ones were synthesized in good to excellent yields under ambient air atmosphere. The heterogeneous catalyst can be recycled at least six times without significant loss of activity.

Visible light-induced mono-bromination of arenes with BrCCl3

Summary: A highly efficient and regioselective bromination of electron-rich arenes and heteroarenes has been developed using commercially available BrCCl3 as a Br source. The reaction, performed in air under mild conditions with Ru(bpy)(3)Cl-2·6H(2)O as a photocatalyst, avoids the use of strong acids and oxidants, yielding mono-brominated products with medium to excellent yields (up to 94%). This strategy exhibits good compatibility and high para-selectivity, facilitating complex syntheses.

Regioselective C5-H direct iodination of indoles
