The neutral N-heterocyclic carbene stabilized boranotsignalkene 1, prepared by a BH borenium/hydroboration method, can form stable copper, gold, or palladium pi-complexes. The polar boranotsignalkene B=C system undergoes selective hydroboration reactions with (C6F5)(2)BH or C6F5BH2 center dot SMe2 boranes. The latter reaction involves subsequent rearrangement leading to the exchange of internal hydride and isothiocyanate substituents at the borane pair.
