Incomplete hetero-structure molecular layer enhancing room-temperature spin-photovoltaic performances

Yang Qin et al.

Summary: Molecular spin-photovoltaic device (MSP) integrates photovoltaic and spintronic functionalities and can modulate output signal, even achieving full spin polarization at room temperature using photo-generated voltage (Vph). To improve MSP performance, it is crucial to enhance Vph by increasing effective spin transport capability. However, the weak driving force of spin-photovoltaic interaction limits Vph's ability to modulate spin signal in current single-component MSP. In this study, an incomplete hetero-structure active layer is employed for the first time to construct a novel-designed MSP, leading to a more efficient working mechanism and greater potential for MSP in the future.

Hybrid magnonics in hybrid perovskite antiferromagnets

Andrew H. Comstock et al.

Summary: Recently there has been interest in exploring the coupling between magnons for use in information processing, however, this is hampered by the fact that such coupling is forbidden due to the different parity of the acoustic and optical magnons. Here, Comstock et al show that the interlayer Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya-Interaction in a layered hybrid antiferromagnet can allow for strong coupling between the acoustic and optical magnons, offering a pathway for magnon coherent information processing.

The Structural Origin of Chiroptical Properties in Perovskite Nanocrystals with Chiral Organic Ligands

Young-Hoon Kim et al.

Summary: This study investigates how chiral ligands attached to perovskite nanocrystal surfaces distort the perovskite lattice and demonstrates the resulting chiral electro-optical properties. The major finding is a centro-asymmetric distortion of the surface lattice, which is likely the cause of the chiral-optical properties. Spin-polarized transport through chiral nanocrystals amplifies the discrimination between left and right-handed circularly polarized light.

Chiral cation promoted interfacial charge extraction for efficient tin-based perovskite solar cells

Weiyin Gao et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates for the first time the role of chiral cations, alpha-methylbenzylamine (S-/R-Irac-MBA), in promoting hole transportation of FASnI(3)-based PSCs. The introduction of MBAs forms a low-dimensional structure at the PEDOT:PSS/FASnI(3) interface, facilitating energy level alignment and efficient charge transfer. The chiral-induced spin selectivity effect further assists the specific interfacial transport of accumulated holes.

Origin of Chirality Induced Spin Selectivity in Photoinduced Electron Transfer

Thomas P. Fay et al.

Summary: A mechanism is proposed to generate spin-polarization dynamically in chiral molecular systems during photoinduced electron transfer. This mechanism explains how spin-polarization emerges in systems with incoherent hopping for charge transport, mediated by spin-orbit and electronic exchange couplings. The theory predicts nonmonotonic temperature dependence of spin-polarization, independent of spin-orbit coupling magnitude.
