Electrochemical borylation of nitroarenes

Linlin Du et al.

Summary: A simple electrochemically mediated method for converting nitroarenes to aryl boronic esters is described. This method enables the electrochemical borylation of a wide range of nitroarenes, including late-stage borylation of bioactive molecules, under simple conditions at room temperature, demonstrating its broad applicability and functional group tolerance. The transformation provides a convenient and practical access to aryl boronic esters from readily available nitroarenes, streamlining the synthetic process of diverse functionalized arenes.

Synthesis and Properties of Pyridine-Fused Triazolylidene-Palladium: Catalyst for Cross-Coupling Using Chloroarenes and Nitroarenes

Keiichiro Iizumi et al.

Summary: This study describes the synthesis and catalytic activity of a novel abnormal N-heterocyclic carbene (aNHC) ligand, pyridine-fused triazolylidene. The physical properties and catalytic performance of this ligand were evaluated using X-ray crystallographic analysis and infrared spectroscopy. The results showed that these triazolylidenes have a high electron-donating ability towards the metal center and can efficiently activate C-Cl and C-NO2 bonds.

Palladium-catalyzed denitrative N-arylation of nitroarenes with pyrroles, indoles, and carbazoles

Lin Feng et al.

Summary: We have developed an efficient palladium-catalyzed denitrative N-arylation method, which enables the cross-coupling of N-H heteroarenes with nitroarenes. This method allows for the selective synthesis of various functionalized N-arylated heterocycles with moderate to excellent yields. Furthermore, its success in scale-up experiments and late-stage modification of natural products and pharmaceutical derivatives demonstrates the synthetic potential of this direct denitrative N-arylation protocol in synthetic chemistry.

Zhirong Li et al.

Summary: The palladium-catalyzed alpha-arylation of ketones with nitroarenes and nitroheteroarenes provides access to useful alpha-aryl and alpha-heteroaryl ketones. The use of Pd/BrettPhos catalysts is crucial for high efficiency, with other catalysts leading to decreased yields. This methodology can also be applied to intramolecular substrates, resulting in the synthesis of polyaromatic carbonyl compounds.
