Combinatorial Synthesis of Novel 3/5(3,5)-(Di)nitro/chloropaeonol Carbonyl Hydrazone Derivatives as Nematicidal Agents

Genqiang Chen et al.

Summary: The structural modification of paeonol into paeonol carbonyl hydrazone derivatives is a potential approach for developing novel nematocides. Introducing a nitro group at the 1 position of the derivatives enhances their nematicidal activity, with 5-nitropaeonol and 3,5-dinitropaeonol showing the strongest activity against H. glycines.

Synthesis and Anti-Oomycete Preliminary Mechanism of Sulfonate Derivatives of Ethyl Maltol

Puhou Xing et al.

Summary: In this study, several new sulfonate derivatives of ethyl maltol were synthesized and tested for their anti-oomycete activity against Phytophthora capsici. The results showed that three derivatives exhibited the most potent activity, and further mechanism studies revealed that the compound can affect the growth of the fungus by disrupting the integrity of the membrane.

Phosphonic acid: a long-standing and versatile crop protectant

Elizabeth Dann et al.

Summary: Phosphonic acid-based fungicides, or phosphonates, have been widely used as crop protectants in horticulture since the late 1970s, and recently in native ecosystems and forestry. Their effectiveness against difficult-to-manage foliar and soilborne diseases makes them crucial for protecting forests and sensitive ecosystems under threat from pathogens. Their versatility in agriculture and broader applications, along with continued research on efficacy, safety, and interactions, will support their continued use.

The RPA190-pc gene participates in the regulation of metalaxyl sensitivity, pathogenicity and growth in Phytophthora capsici

Weiyan Wang et al.

Summary: Metalaxyl resistance of Phytophthora capsici caused by long-term intense use of the fungicide has become a serious challenge. The study identified a conserved domain RPOLA-N of the RPA190 gene in P. capsici and investigated its role in metalaxyl resistance. Results showed that the expression of RPA190-pc plays a significant role in regulating P. capsici resistance to metalaxyl.

Synthesis and Anti-Oomycete Activity of 1-Sulfonyloxy/Acyloxydihydroeugenol Derivatives

Genqiang Chen et al.

Summary: Novel 1-sulfonyloxy/acyloxydihydroeugenol derivatives show promising fungicidal activity against Phytophthora capsici Leonian, with acyloxy derivatives displaying higher activity than sulfonyloxy derivatives. Introduction of acyl group at the hydroxy position of dihydroeugenol is more beneficial for improving anti-oomycete activity compared to sulfonyl group. These findings pave the way for potential new fungicide development through further modification of dihydroeugenol.
