The content and health risk assessment of selected elements in bee pollen and propolis from Turkey

Hidayet Tutun et al.

Summary: This study aimed to determine the concentrations of potentially toxic elements in pollen and propolis samples collected from migratory beekeeping areas in Turkey. The results showed that propolis had higher concentrations of most elements compared to pollen, with Fe, Al, and Zn being the most abundant elements. It was suggested that standards regulating acceptable concentrations of these pollutants in bee products should be established and that consumption at specified rates does not pose a risk.
