The Role of Gut-Derived Lipopolysaccharides and the Intestinal Barrier in Fatty Liver Diseases

Lingxuan An et al.

Summary: Hepatosteatosis is the earliest stage in the pathogenesis of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease and alcoholic liver disease, strongly linked with obesity. Gut dysbiosis and gut barrier dysfunction crucially contribute to the development of chronic liver disease. Treatments targeting the gut microbiome and gut barrier have shown potential benefits in attenuating liver inflammation.

2,3,5,4′-tetrahydroxy-stilbene-2-O-β-D-glucoside ameliorates NAFLD via attenuating hepatic steatosis through inhibiting mitochondrial dysfunction dependent on SIRT5

Shaobo Zhang et al.

Summary: This study observed the improvement of 2,3,5,4'-tetrahydroxy-stilbene-2-O-beta-D-glucoside (TSG) on methionine and choline deficient (MCD) diet-induced non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) in mice and elucidated its mechanism. The results showed that TSG could attenuate liver injury, inhibit inflammatory responses and fibrosis, and significantly improve liver steatosis. In addition, TSG could prevent lipid accumulation and improve mitochondrial dysfunction through regulating the expression of SIRT5.

Chlorogenic acid alleviated liver fibrosis in methionine and choline deficient diet-induced nonalcoholic steatohepatitis in mice and its mechanism

Hui Miao et al.

Summary: Chlorogenic acid (CGA) alleviated liver fibrosis in mice with methionine and choline deficient (MCD) diet-induced nonalcoholic steatohepatitis by inhibiting hepatic stellate cells activation, promoting mitochondrial biogenesis, and reducing high mobility group box 1-initiated extracellular matrix production in hepatic vascular endothelial cells.

Marine Chitooligosaccharide Alters Intestinal Flora Structure and Regulates Hepatic Inflammatory Response to Influence Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease

Jiayao Feng et al.

Summary: In this study, oral administration of marine chitooligosaccharide COSM significantly improved the imbalance of intestinal flora and inflammatory response in a mouse model of hepatic steatosis induced by a high-fat, high-sugar diet, thereby alleviating intrahepatic lipid accumulation.
