Determination of spermine and spermidine in meat with a ratiometric fluorescence nanoprobe and a combinational logic gate

Summary: A ratiometric fluorescent nanoprobe with wide color variation was developed for visual determination of spermine and spermidine in meat samples. The probe exhibited a change in emission color from green to pink in the presence of spermine or spermidine. The sensor showed good linearity and suitable detection limits for both compounds, and demonstrated high selectivity towards amino acids and other biogenic amines. A combinational logic gate based on RGB indices was constructed for visual and simultaneous detection. Finally, a portable sensor was fabricated for visual, rapid, and on-site assessment of meat freshness.

Constructing a Facile Biocomputing Platform Based on Smart Supramolecular Hydrogel Film Electrodes with Immobilized Enzymes and Gold Nanoclusters

Summary: In this study, fluorescent gold nanoclusters (AuNCs) and horseradish peroxidase (HRP) were embedded into self-assembled dipeptide supramolecular films on ITO electrodes, forming a smart film electrode system that can be regulated by Cu(II)/EDTA in solution to control fluorescence signal quenching/dequenching and UV-vis signal generation. The coordinated Cu(II) in the films enhanced the electrocatalytic capacity toward the reduction of H2O2 and a biomolecular logic circuit was built based on this system. Continuous response fluorescence sensor for three small molecules based on nitrogen-doped carbon quantum dots from prunus lannesiana and their logic gate operation

Summary: In this study, environmentally friendly and water-soluble nitrogen-doped carbon quantum dots (NCQDs) were prepared using the leaves of prunus lannesiana as precursors. The prepared NCQDs exhibit a quenched fluorescence by Fe3+ and a restored fluorescence by ascorbic acid (AA) and can be turned off again by hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), forming a continuous response fluorescence sensor for the detection of Fe3+, AA, and H2O2. The sensor showed satisfactory recoveries and repeatability in real samples, demonstrating fast response, acceptable sensitivity, and good selectivity.
